OWS: Are we losing the PR Battle?

Think again before you answer that. Maybe you already stop complaining about the lack of mainstream media coverage long ago, but I thought it was self evident enough (among other things):

- Not to poop in police cars.
- Not to invoke Robin Hood as a symbol, unless you positively want to lose your cash, your laptops and iPhones (Ever heard that King Solomon saying?).
- Not to spread bigotry.

Details like this help to tarnish the legitimate protest aims for good.

I wish I could find in OWS protestors more wittiness like this:

#OccupyWallStreet please Stop the Westboro Baptist Church from picketing Steve Jobs funeral!

It’s official: the bunch of pricks we love to hate, the Westboro Baptist Church (W.b.C.) will protest during Steve Jobs funeral. Why in the frigging world will they be picketing? Because Jobs allegedly had a “big platform” and “his sinful pride didn’t let him praise God there”. Boy they like to give religion and faith a bad name!

It is crass, senseless and depraved, even if they were right.

Years ago I learned from somewhere that the W.b.C. honchos wanted badly a multimillion lawsuit and the best way to be in one was involving the 1st Ammendment of the U.S. Constitution. Their plans backfired because the Supreme Court granted their right to make demostrations in soldiers’ funerals, Elizabeth Taylor’s memorial service, and any beloved person’s interment they like to mess with. Now, unfortunately, it’s Steve Jobs turn.

Unless you 99% people take a little break from your #OccupyWallStreet duties for a while and teach the W.b.C. some manners. As GenYers and main beneficiaries of the new lifestyle Steve Jobs helped to create, it would be the right thing to do.

And a huge PR hit. Any subsequent demand of yours could be granted in no time. It’s about time. I’m for free speech, but this is too much for me.
